Where are you from?

"Where are you from?"

This is one of the first questions you hear when you meet someone new in Colorado.

Some might say it's rude to ask people where they are from, or that it causes separation, but I disagree if done tactfully.

It's important to learn about other cultures and traditions to understand your peers better and what they view as important. And if you can help bring a little bit of that to their world, that creates even deeper connection.

I moved here 4 years ago from #Michigan, and I love talking about my home state to anyone who will listen. *Hint, hint - if you can find me Polish food, amazing blueberries, or Cornish pasties, we will be friends forever*

So go forth and ask people where they are from! But then be sure to ask the follow-up question - "what do you love about your home state/country?"
